Traffic Safety Awards

The Vision Zero Traffic Safety Awards recognize law enforcement, transportation representatives, engineers, public health representatives, and other traffic safety agencies from across the state for their commitment to traffic safety. The awards are for those who show outstanding service and dedication to accomplish the overall goal of Vision Zero, to eliminate motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads for the period of October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2024

Please read the eligibility requirements and criteria below and submit nominations via the VZPC website or email. Nominations are due December 31, 2024.
Commemorative Coin/Traffic Safety Officer of the Year
Law enforcement officers who have demonstrated a commitment to enforcing traffic safety laws and promoting traffic safety can be nominated for the Commemorative Coin, as well as for the Traffic Safety Officer of the Year (TSOY) by submitting this application. This nomination should reflect the officer's traffic safety efforts for the time period from October 1 of the previous year to September 30 of the current year.

Nominations must be submitted by December 31 via the VZPC website or email.

All officers will be nominated for a Commemorative Coin and TSOY. To be considered, all questions must be filled out.
Beyond the Traffic Stop
This award honors officers who used outstanding investigative skills that led to multiple arrests for narcotics, stolen property, and/or outstanding warrants from a single routine traffic stop.

Media Awards
This award is for the reporters/news organizations that have been fair, balanced and informative in reporting transportation/traffic-related issues on radio, television, newspaper or internet/social media.

Child Passenger Safety Technician
This award recognizes Child Passenger Safety Technicians and/or instructors for their commitment to child passenger safety.

Emergency Medical Services
This award recognize Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers for their commitment and dedication to keeping North Dakota roads safe.

Vision Zero School of the Year
This award recognizes a school for its dedication to becoming a Vision Zero School and establishing a culture of personal responsibility where motor vehicle fatalities are viewed as preventable.

Outreach
This award is for the individuals and/or organizations that have gone above and beyond and actively play a role in decreasing motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries through their outreach and education to support Vision Zero.

Honor Roll
This award recognizes outstanding service to the community, information technology, safety, public affairs and/or consumer education programs throughout the state of North Dakota in the area of traffic safety.
